The IX Iberian Modelling Week will take place at the Campus of the University of the Balearic Islands, located 7.5 km from the city of Palma (Mallorca, Balearic Islands) from 17 to 21 July 2023. It is an event jointly promoted by the Portuguese Network of Mathematics for Industry and Innovation, PT-MATHS-IN , and the Spanish Network of Mathematics and Industry, math-in.The workshop is organised locally by the IAC3 (Institute of Applied Computing & Community Code).
The Iberian Modelling Week is an annual international event, with the participation of master, PhD and final year undergraduate students of mathematics, physics and engineering, from different nationalities and universities, not only Portuguese and Spanish, which takes place alternatively between Portugal and Spain. Since its first edition in 2014 in Coimbra. The last edition was also in Coimbra , from 25 July to 29 July 2022.

This IX Iberian Modelling Week is mainly aimed at PhD, Master and final year undergraduate students, with a strong mathematics component, and aims to offer students the opportunity to work on real problems that arise in an industrial context, identical to those they may encounter in the future, preparing them to better address the labour market and be able to respond to its demands.

The international nature of the event allows not only to bring students closer to the sector, but also to exchange experiences between students with different educational backgrounds.

The IX Iberian Modelling Week also aims to raise industry’s awareness of the added value of mathematics when applied to solving real problems arising from the most diverse industrial areas.
