Vicent Caselles Mathematical Research Awards

The BBVA Foundation and the Royal Spanish Mathematical Society (RSME) collaborate in the call and award of the fourth edition of the Vicent Caselles Mathematical Research Awards. The awards are named after who was a professor at the universities of Valencia, Islas Baleares and Pompeu Fabra, in memory of their scientific and human figure.

In this call six awards will be awarded, each with a gross endowment of 2,000 euros, and all of them in the Mathematical Investigation modality. This call is complemented with the concession of the "RSME-Fundación BBVA José Luis Rubio de Francia" project, endowed with 35,000 euros and awarded to the distinguished researcher with the José Luis Rubio de Francia Award.

The Awards are aimed at researchers in mathematics of Spanish nationality, or of another nationality who have done their research work in a university or scientific center in Spain, who are under 30 years old as of December 31, 2017 and therefore were born in 1988 or following years (except as provided in Art. 2 of the call).

Without excluding any thematic branch considered relevant within the range of mathematical research to which the prizes refer, the following are considered to be included: combinatorics, optimization, statistics, information theory, logic, number theory, algebra, algebraic geometry, topology, geometry, theory of representations, analysis, dynamic systems, partial differential equations, modeling and simulation, computation and approximation, mathematical physics, life and earth mathematics, economic and social mathematics.

All necessary documentation regarding the prizes will be sent to the electronic address of the Secretariat of the Royal Spanish Mathematical Society, until 2:00 p.m. (Peninsular time) on Wednesday, February 28, 2018.
