The PRIMA initiative (Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area) has recently made the pre-announcement of its call for 2018.

The PRIMA Foundation has announced the convocation of Section 1 and 2 of the Program for 2018. The program has the participation of 15 states: Algeria, Croatia, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Portugal , Slovenia, Spain, Tunisia and Turkey. It is also expected that in the near future Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Morocco will also participate, as soon as the agreements they have signed begin to produce legal effects.

Through collaborative research projects, PRIMA aims to develop research and innovation capabilities as well as common knowledge and innovative solutions for agri-food systems and the provision of water in the Mediterranean area to make them sustainable, according to the agenda of the UN 2030 for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

The program of Prima activities will be implemented in two sections:

SECTION 1: Actions and activities (Research & Innovation actions (RIA), and Innovation Actions (IA), as defined in the General Annexes of H200) organized, managed and subsidized by the PRIMA Foundation.

SECTION 2: Activities (Research & Innovation actions (RIA) based on national regulations) selected following the transnational, open and competitive calls for proposals, organized by PRIMA and subsidized by national PS funding agencies.

The calls for proposals are part of the PRIMA Annual Work Program for 2018, which covers the priorities described in SRIA, the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda of PRIMA, under the three thematic areas of PRIMA:

WATER MANAGEMENT: integrated and sustainable water management for arid and semi-arid Mediterranean areas.
