Shared parking solutions can optimize the use of spaces, reducing the time vehicles spend circulating in search of parking and thereby decreasing traffic congestion. Initially, this seems to free up urban space and facilitate smoother traffic flow by reducing the demand for new parking infrastructures. However, it is essential to analyze the balance between the benefits of reducing traffic and potential counterproductive effects, such as the &#8216;Downs-Thomson paradox,&#8217; where improved parking availability could encourage car use over public transport, impacting urban sustainability efforts. The scope of this analysis aims to identify key indicators for an implementation that supports decongestion and the growth of green and urban spaces, promoting a more sustainable environment without detriment to public transport.
