Descripción del Grupo:

CIMNE Math is a group collecting the researchers in CIMNE with a sustained activity in Mathematical and Computational Modelling. All CIMNE disciplines rely on tools that are devised and analyzed with a sound mathematical basis. However, the work carried out by researchers under CIMNE Math umbrella is especially intensive in its mathematical aspects.

In daily industrial practice, Computational Engineering faces two critical issues: efficiency and credibility. This includes devising efficient strategies to carry out computationally-demanding multiple queries of complex multi-physics and multi-disciplinary problems arising in parametric studies. Besides, the output of the model is expected to be credible, namely with guaranteed numerical accuracy and quantified and controlled uncertainty. In a data-driven approach, data is used to update the model and quantify uncertainty.

CIMNE Math focuses on the development of mathematical models and efficient and credible numerical methods for the solution of a wide range of problems in engineering and other applied sciences, involving, for instance, external and internal flows in the fluid mechanics disciplines, and a diversity of problems in structural mechanics and dynamics, as well as problems of other nature (diffusion, waves, electromagnetics…).

CIMNE Math responds to these challenges adopting a comprehensive approach in the discipline of computational science and engineering, developing new mathematical models and numerical methods to produce high-fidelity solutions in a variety of complex interdisciplinary problems.
