Invitation letter

On behalf of the Spanish Mathematics-Industry Network (math-in) and the Galician Centre for Mathematical Research and Technology (CITMAga), we would like to invite you to participate in the 184th European Study Group with Industry (184 ESGI), to be held in Santiago de Compostela from November 25 to 29, 2024.

During these gatherings, researchers are organised into working groups to tackle and solve problems presented by participating companies. These efforts foster synergy, promote the establishment of joint action plans, and create coordinated responses between researchers and the productive sector. Thanks to mathematics’ cross-disciplinary nature, these problems can be approached across all business sectors, underscoring the essential role of mathematical researchers in business and industry.

In this new edition of the ESGI, we are pleased to announce the participation of The Basement, a technology company specialising in data and analytics. They will lead a working group aimed at studying the impact of shared parking systems on urban planning. This project aims to quantify the impact of these systems on city planning in various areas, such as increasing parking spaces, reducing urban traffic congestion, and offering alternatives that help create more competitiveness and yield more efficient outcomes.

In addition, we are honoured to have Sunntics with us during these days. Sunntics, a company specialising in software development and producing professional scientific and technical tools, will present a problem related to applied mathematics and statistics, fields of great interest to the mathematical community.

We encourage you to register to participate in the 184 ESGI, either as a coordinator (click here) or as a participant (click here). This event will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in our goal to bridge the gap between industry and scientific research through synergy and collaboration.

We would be delighted to have your participation in this event to make these sessions a meeting point that highlights the value of mathematical technology transfer to industry.

We look forward to your participation and to seeing you in Santiago de Compostela.

Sincerely,

Emilio Carrizosa, President of the Spanish Mathematics-Industry Network (Math-In).

Rosa M. Crujeiras, Scientific Director of CITMAga.
